Bat

Firm but moist clay about midway in the drying process

Earthenware
Pottery fired in the lower range (cone 06 - cone 07)
Dry foot
To clean the bottom of a glazed piece before firing
Stoneware
A high-fired ware (cone 6-8) with slight or no absorbency. It is usually gray in color but may turn tan or reddish in a reduction firing
Bisqueware
Unglazed pieces which have been fired one time in preparation for glazing.
Raku firing
A low fire process originating in Japan. Involves placing bisqueware in a kiln that is up to temperature; removing ware when mature and placing it in a carbon-rich atmosphere. Use of organic matter and quenching is common
Slip
A very, wet soupy clay

(2 kinds: liquid clay for attaching and a glaze for decorating)
