Respiration
The controlled release of energy from organic compounds in cells to form ATP.
Glycolysis
Glucose -> 2 pyruvate + ATP
thE breakdown of one molecule of gluecose into two molecules of pyruvate with a small yield of ATP. Takes place in the cytoplasm. Doesn't need oxygen.
Pyruvate
A three carbon compound. It is obtained through glycolysis, and can be converted again to lactate in human cells.
