What are Erythrocytes?

What are the normal values for the adult male/female hematocrit?
For males there are 5 million RBC's in each cubic mm of blood or 45%. For females there is about 4 million RBC/mm or 42%.
Hematocrit is the percentage of RBC's in relation to the total blood volume.
