This phase has 6 levels Level 1- the exercises in the bed within the first 24 hours Level 2- after 24 hrs pt may get OOB be aware of orthostatic hypotension Pt feet should touch floor when on edge of bed to allow proper venous return. Pt walks to a chair and sits up for about 30 min |

Level 2- Seated exercises such as Ankle pumps Marching in place Knee extensions *must keep check on vitals and pace activities Level 3- Pt's are taught to increase their ambulation pt's taught to judge the time they walk not the distance |

Level 4-6 Pt's gradually increase the time and the frequency that they walk Goal is to increase walks from 2 min, 5 min, to 10 min |

Strength training introduced Light bands and light weights at first teach pt to breathe out during insertion aerobic exercise may be introduced usally done at approx ~ 4 wks |

Endurance training and risk factor modification continue to occur
