What is 5 card major?
I can open a bid with 1x.
1. It's in Spades or Hearts
2. I have a minimum of 13 pts
3. at least 5 cards in a major
What is third man high
Throw your highest card in that suit, unless you know your partner has already won it
When should you open "one no trump"
HCP = 15 to 17
No singleton's or Voids
No more than two doubletons
Don't open if you have two suits without stoppers
Don't open if you are 5-4 or 4-5 in Spades/Hearts (i.e. 5 spades/4 hearts or 4 spades/5 hearts)
When should you open 2 No Trump?
When all the criteria for one no trump is met except HCP = 20 - 21
