How does reproduction occur?
a pollen grain deposited on the stigma germinates to produce a pollen tube that grows down through the style to the ovary. Upon penetrating the female gamertophyte, one sperm fertilizes the egg which then becomes the zygote. After fertilization, the ovule becomes the seed. A second sperm from the pollen grain combines with two or more other nuclei produced by the female gametophyte to form a polyploid endosperm nucleus that will divide to produce food for the devloping embryo.
