Why did the people of Jerusalem seek to take away Lehi's life?
Because he had been faithful and declared unto the people the things which the Lord commanded him

In the day that his brethren should rebel against the Lord, He will curse them, and they shall have no power over the seed of Nephi except they (the seed of Nephi) should rebel also. If Nephi's seed also rebels, his brethren shall be a scourge unto them.
