What is a "Covalent Bond"?
When water forms, an oxygen atom is sharing electrons with two hydrogen atoms.
What is a "Hydrogen Bond"?
A hydrogen bond is the attraction of a slightly positive hydrogen to a slightly negative atom in the vicinity.
What is a "Solution"?
A solution is water liquid containing a dissolved substance.
What are the properties of water?
1. High Specific Heat
2. Capillary Action 3. Cohesion 4. Adhesion 5. Can reduce the toxicity of chemicals/Dilution. |
What is "Capillary Action"?
The ability of water to travel through a narrow space without the act of a resisting force or pushing force, such as gravitational force.
What is "Specific Heat"?
Specific heat is how much heat energy it takes to raise the temperature of a unit mass of a substance one degree. If the specific heat is high, it takes a lot of heat (iron for example).
What is "Cohesion"?
The sticking together of particles of the same substance.
What is "Adhesion"?
The action or process of adhering to a surface or object.
