Endocrine System Function

Regulates long-term changes in the body such as growth and development. It is made up of glands that release their products into the bloodstream.


It also controls many of your bodies daily activities

Endocrine glands

An endocrine gland produces and releases chemical substances directly into the bloodstream that signal changes in other parts of the body

Hormones

Chemicals released in one part of the body that travels through the bloodstream and effect the activities of cells in other parts of the body

The endocrine system is kept imbalanced by the coordinated action of various hormones

Gland

An organ that produces and release the substance or secretion

Pituitary gland

Controls other endocrine, gland, and regulates, growth rate, reproduction, and metabolism

Thymus gland

Hormones released by the thymus gland, helped the immune system develop during childhood by adolescence this gland has shrunk considerably in size.

Hypothalamus gland

Regulates, hunger, thirst, sleep, body temperature, and most involuntary mechanisms

Adrenal gland

These glands release several hormones, such as adrenaline which triggers the bodies response to sudden stress( flight or fight, )other hormones, affect, salt, and water, balance in kidneys and generate

Pineal glands

Releases a substance involved in rhythmic activities, such as the sleep awake cycle

Thyroid gland

Regulates the bodies, overall metabolic rate and controls. Calcium levels in the bloodstream.

The reproductive system combines genetic information from both parents(in most animals) to produce new life forms. This this system produces sex cells(gametes) delivers them and protects developing fetus and until birth
