My name is Dakota Patterson and I’m giving aspeech on an occasion on a special baseball event. Sold out crowd in Raleigh,North Carolina. The Wake Tech Eagles are up by one against the BrunswickDolphins with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.Coach Sibrizzi Calls for me to come in the pitch. What a tough and nervoussituation for me and my team to be in. When I get to the mound I call theinfielders up to the mound to talk to them. I could tell they were verynervous, even the coach was a little shaky at the movement. I then tell myteammates and coach to take a deep breath and let’s finish this game with awin. Also I tell them we fought this hard to get to where we are let’s not giveup!

The motivation pumps my team up and now we allshow a whole lot of confidence in each other. Next I take my hat off to prayand give thanks to God for always being with me. Now the batter steps up to theplate and I’m very focused in on what I need to do to win this game. Firstpitch is a curveball that crosses the plate for a strike. Next pitch I throw afastball and its hit foul down the first base side. The crowd gets even louderand now I can smell victory coming. This pitch I break off a hard curveball that bites the dust and he swings and misses! Everybody runs to the mound and have a huge dog pile. Even the coaches run out there because its the biggest win of the year! WOW! After all of the excitement the coaches pull me to the side and talk to me briefly, they tell me how proud they are of me and that great things are in store. What a great game and even better that we won. After the game I tell my teammates Great focus and way to slam thedoor shut to end it! Overall the motivation gave me so much confidence andpositive vibes that led to success. |
