Atropine Class

Anticholinergic agent

Atropine Indications

1. Unstable bradycardia


2. Organophosphate poisoning


3. Nerve Agent exposure


4. RSI in pediatrics


5. Beta blocker or Ca Channel blocker OD

Atropine Contraindications

1. Tachycardia


2. Hypersensitivity


3. Unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemmorrhage w/myocardial ischemia


4. Narrow Angle Glaucoma


5. Hypothermic Bradycardia

Atropine Adult Dose

0.5 mg IV/IO every 3-5 min PRN (max 3 mg)



Organophosphate poisoning: 2-4 mg IV

Atropine Pedi Dose

0.02 mg/kg IV/IO (max single: child : 0.5 mg. Adolescent: 1 mg) (max total: child: 1 mg. Adolescent: 3 mg)



ET dose: 0.04- 0.06 mg/kg



RSI: 0.01-0.02 mg/kg IV/IO
