Common iliac arteries.

The right and left common iliac arteries arise from the dorsal artery in the posterior pelvic area.

Internal iliac

This artery supplies the gluteal muscles and organs of the pelvic region.

External iliac

This artery passes out of the pelvic cavity.

Femoral

This is a major artery from which several other vessels arise.


It is derived from the word "femur" for the femur bone in that area.

Gluteal

There are both superior and inferior gluteal arteries, which supply blood to the gluteal region

Sacral

There are both lateral and median sacral arteries. They supply the sacrum, coccyx and rectum.

Obturator

Supplies the pelvic muscles and hip joints.

Popliteal

It is a large artery with several branches and it's supplies the calf region.

Sural

Supplies the calf region.

Fibular

Supplies the ankle and the deep calf muscles.

Malleolar

Supplies the ankle joint with blood.

Tarsal

The region between the foot and leg.

Dorsal of foot

Distributes blood to the foot and toes.
