What does it mean if an object is moving with a greater mass and a greater velocity?

It has a greater momentum
P= M x V

Momentum (kg m/s) = mass (kg) x velocity (m/s)
What is the unit for momentum?
kg m/s
What is the law of conservation of momentum?

Whenever objects interact, the total momentum before the interaction = total momentum afterwards (with no external forces)

How would you investigate a collision?
Use a computer and a monitor sensor. The mass of two trolleys are measured and then the velocity of the trolleys is measured before and after a moving trolley collides with a stationary trolley. This proves the law of conservation of momentum.
Is momentum a scalar or a vector?
It is a vector (has size and direction)

What is the momentum of objects if they are at rest?

0

Why is the momentum of objects after an explosion 0?

If two objects start stationary with a momentum of 0 and an explosion causes them to move apart with equal and opposite momentum, then the final momentum would be 0 because one direction is positive and one is negative, so they would cancel each other out.

What two movement are caused by the explosion when a gun is fired?

The movement of the bullet and the recoil of the gun.

What happens when a force acts on an object that is able to move?

It's momentum changes

For a particular change in momentum, what would make the acting force smaller?
A longer time taken for the change in momentum.

What do crumple zones in cars do?

They are designed to fold in collisions, this increases the impact time and therefore reduces the force on the car.

What do seat belts do in cars?

Increase the time taken for the passenger's momentum to change and therefore reduces the force of an impact. They also spread the forces on the body over a larger area and stops the wearer from flying forward if the car stops suddenly
