Dendrochronology
Using tree rings to determine time period. Accurate. Can only go back 7,000 years.
Radiocarbon Dating
Take something that used to be alive, measure carbon amount, see how much is broken down.
Destructive analysis.
Good for 70,000 to 75,000 years.
Thermoluminescence - TL dating
Quartz - Silica.
When silica is heated up, undergoes clock-setting event. Can be used to measure when artifacts were last heated to 600 degrees.
