V1 of Trigemnal Path
Opthalmic Nerve. Only sensory fibers. Passes forward on lateral wall of cavernous sinus below occulomotor and trochlear nerves. Spits into 3 branches just before orbit:
Frontal - Exits supraorbital foramen
Lacrimal - Passes through orbit superiorly
Nasocilliary - Exits via anterior ethmoidal foramen
V1 of Trigeminal Branches and innervation
Sensory innervation over forehead and face to tip of nose.
Frontal Nerve: Supratrochlear, Supraorbital
Lacrimal: No branches, just nerve itself
Nasocilliary: Infratrochlear nerve, anterior ethmoidal (which terminates to external nasal)
V2 of Trigeminal Path
Maxillary Nerve. Only Sensory. Anterior to trigeminal ganglion, passes through cavernous sinus and exits foramen rotundum. Crosses pterygopalatine fossa, then enters orbit through inferior orbital fissure. Exits skull via infraorbital foramen.
V2 of trigeminal branches and innervation.
Provides sensation of midface including maxilla area, palate, nasal cavity.
Ifraorbital, zygomaticotemporal, and zygomaticofacial.
V3 of trigeminal path
Mandibular Nerve. Has both motor and sensory components. Exit middle cranial fossa via foramen ovale.
V3 of trigeminal branches and innervation
Supplies mylohyoid muscle, anterior belly of digastric, and the muscles of mastication. Supplies sensory to anterior 2/3s of tongue and lower face.
Auriculotemporal, Buccal, Inferior alveolar, Lingual.
