What are the bone tissues? |
Osteoblasts are the cells that build up bone tissue. Osteocytes are the mature 'maintenance' cells that take up nutrients, get rid of waste, produce ATP and communicate with other bone cells Osteoclasts are the cells that break down the mineral portion of extracellular matrix to release calcium |

Tightly arranged units called osteons. these contain central canals that have blood vessles and lymphatic vessels |

Explain spongy bone |
made up of trabeculae that are compased of osteocytes, found in short, flat and irregular bones |

1. Long- greater length than width ex fingers 2. Short- somewhat cube shaped ex wrist and ankle bones 3. Flat- general thin, for protection. ex. scapulae 4. Irregular- complex shapes and cannot be grouped ex vertebrae 5. Sesamold- embedded in a tendon and cross over a joint providing strength |
