Trauma criteria Step 1

Vitals: GCS<13, BP <90, RR>29 or <10 (infant <20)



Trauma criteria Step 2

Anatomical injuries: penetrating injuries (head neck torso), flail chest, pelvic fx, two or more proximal long bone fxs, crushed/mangled extremity, amputation proximal to wrist/ankle, skull fx, paralysis

Trauma criteria step 3

Falls: >20 ft (adult) >10ft or 2x height (ped)


MVA: 12" intrusion occupant, 18" anywhere, ejection, death in compartment, auto vs. ped, run over, >20 mph, motorcycle crash

Special considerations:


Age (>55, pediatric), anticoagulant disorders/medication, severe burns over 15% body or to hands/face/genitalia, pregnancy
