At 20 yrs. old, he starts looking for a shorter, newer way to Asia - lived in Genoa - asked the king and queen about his idea - no, so went to Venice - no, so went to Portugal and has a son - Diego - and waits 12 yrs. for Portugal's answer - no, goes to Spain and waits again - no - he is now about 40 - so starts to go back to Italy - then suddenly Spain changes their mind - and he only got about 1/10 of all of the wealth he found

Spain; he confronts the Aztecs, and w/in 2 yrs. he wipes them out - he was also a conquerer

people are walking away from the Catholic Church and embracing the Protestant movement - S. Eur. stays Catholic, N. Eur. is embracing it, and Central is confused; so the pope asks the king of Eng. to help bring them back, yes - pope gives him a title "Defender of the Faith" - but then the king asks for an anolement and the pope says no - so the king is mad and makes his out church ( basically the same thing, just no pope ) and the pope officially kicks Eng. out of the church; law: "In order to sit on the throne, you must be a Protestant" - law for Eng.

The industrial Rev. is born and there is a movement for peasant farmers to leave Eng. and go to America - so jobs are appearing in London - so it is so overcrowded by the thousands that people are living on the streets
