Bark and Branches

-Tall, straight trunks with branches near top of the trees to help trees obtain maximum amount of sunlight

-Smooth bark allows water to flow easily from crown to the roots of trees

Leaves

-Broad leaves to obtain more sunlight for photosynthesis

-Hairy, leathery or waxy surface to minimise loss of moisture during transpiration

-Drip tips to allow water to flow off easily to prevent bacteria or fungi to grow on it

Fruit and Flowers

-Since wind is still in tropical rainforests, it is hard for seeds to be dispersed and flowers to be pollinated by wind

-Hence flowers and fruits are colourful and strong-smelling to attract insects and other animals for animal dispersal and pollination

Roots

-Tress have buttress roots to help support their heavy weight

-Buttress roots are shallow as nutrients are found in the top layer of soil due to rapid decomposition

-Do not need deep roots as water is available throughout the year
