Renewable resources

can be replaced within a reasonably short period of time.

Nonrenewable resources

can't be replaced once they are used up.

There is a great deal of water on the earth, but

only a small part is usable by people. Water is used for industrial, agricultural and household purposes. We get water from wells, lakes and rivers.

Water users can

reduce the amount of water they use and reduce the amount of water pollution. Wastewater can be cleaned before it is released into rivers, lakes or oceans.

Land resources

are used for housing, farming, mining and industry. Farms, mines, and industry produce products people use.

By recycling, reusing and reducing how much they use,

people can protect land resources.
