Different is better when it is more ___ or more ___.
effective; fun
Rule 1: Retirement is Worst-case Scenario Insurance
don't see retirement as your end goal. For 3 very important reasons it is a flawed objective. 1. it is predicated on the idea that you dislike what you're doing during your most physically-capable years. 2. Once retired, you'll be reliving a lower-middle-class lifestyle. 3. If it works you'll be bored to tears and defeat the purpose.
Rule 2: Interest and Energy are Cyclical
By working only when you are most effective, life is both more productive and more enjoyable. It's the perfect example of having your cake and eating it too.
Rule 3: Less is Not Laziness
Focus on being productive instead of busy
Rule 4: The Timing is Never Right
Do what's important to you now.
Rule 5: Ask for Forgiveness, Not Permission
If it's not going to devastate those around you, try it then justify it.
Rule 6: Emphasize Strengths, Don't Fix Weaknesses
The choice is between multiplication of results using strengths, or incremental improvement fixing weaknesses that will at best become mediocre.
Rule 7: Things in Excess Become Their Opposite
LD (Lifestyle Design) is not interested in creating an excess of idle time, but the positive use of free time, defined simply as doing what you want as opposed to doing what you feel obligated to.
Rule 8: Money Alone is Not the Solution
Money can prevent you from engaging in the introspection and soul-searching necessary to doing what you really want. It does this by justifying hard (not smart) work, that everybody is doing.
Rule 9: Relative Income is More Important than Absolute Income
Absolute Income=measured with one variable=the raw and almighty dollar.

Relative Income=measured with two variables=the dollar and time, usually measured in hours.
____ Income is the real measurement of wealth for the NR (New Rich).
Relative
Why is Relative Income the real measurement of wealth for the NR?
Because it takes into consideration time in addition to money. If Person A makes $100,000 per year but works 80 hours a week to accomplish it, she is making less than Person B, who works 10 hours a week but makes $50,000 a year. The key is to make what you need to live your dreams. No less.
How much do the top NR make per week?
$5,000
Rule 10: Distress is Bad, Eustress is Good
Stress that is healthful and the stimulus for growth, Eustress, is a stress that we should seek out. The NR are equally aggressive in removing distress and finding eustress.
