I.D (Freud)

Biological, unconscious, demanding, illogical. We are 100% I.D at birth.

Babies

Ego-Social

(6 months old - 3years) works in the world. Who you are when at school or work etc.

Super-ego

(3yrs-5/6yrs) moralistic, irrational, impractical.

Conscious

Sense of guilt

Ego-ideal

The person you want to be compared to who you are currently.

Anxiety

Personalitys energy.

Neurotic

I.D threatens ego (Battle with yourself because your on a diet but your fave cake in the world is on sale)

Realistic

Outside world threatens ego (Strange noise in the house after the power goes out) (Fear)

Superego threatens ego (Guilt) (How could you lie to your own mother!)

Should lead to nurturance. (Baby's get satisfaction from the mouth.)

Oral aggressive

Use mouth as a weapon later in life

Need to stimulate the mouth by over eating, alcoholism, chewing on fingers or pencils etc.

Tight asses. OCD prone. Tend to be super organzed.

Slobs. Not very caring about important things. No impulse control.

Phallic stage

Should lead to adult sex role.

Opedial complex (boys)

Castration anxiety caused from "competition" with dad over mom. Leads to boys wanting to be just like their fathers.

Electra complex (girls)

Penis envy. Penis = power. They think mom has castrated her. "Competition" with mom over dad.

Fixations

Promiscuity and homosexuality. Still looking for the love object that is most likely their mom or dad. Homosexuality is because they identified with the wrong parent.
