When The Tough Get Going Analysis

All people in the world have gone, are going, or will have gone through hard times in life. Adversity, according to the Roman poet Horace, can have the effect of eliciting talents that one did not have at a time. He expressed that in prosperous circumstances these talents would have stayed inactive if it weren’t for the adversity. I agree with Horace being that it can be seen as true in the lives of many, including Martin Luther King Jr., Albert Einstein, Beethoven, and George Washington Carver. There is a popular saying: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” This can mean that when a situation gets hard, the stronger persons take action. It can be known as defeat or being unsuccessful in a task. Although it can be bad, the fear of failure is a much more perilous thing when it comes to completing tasks. Fear of something can prevent a person from an endeavor because of emotional distress over the situation. People that have that have gone through hardships of failure can sometimes develop a talent of overcoming obstacles. They can visualize winning the war they haven’t yet won. I would think, “If I don’t try it, I won’t know,” to get myself to sing or play an instrument in front of a crowd because how would I know if it would turn out great or not without even trying. Even if it wasn’t the best I would still be glad I did it because I overcame a fear, making me feel more accomplished than ever. If I were a naturally bold person I would not have gone through the adversities of this simple fear and wouldn’t have learned how to help other people visualize the end of their fear. This made me stronger and helped my character of boldness that I hadn’t utilized earlier in

The best way to build good character through adversity is by facing the challenge and not backing down. The same people could accomplish these exact results by eating and exercising for health and fitness, cessation of substance use to improve relationships, or by mastering subject material to improve homework and test performance, but for a lot of people these more positive approaches don’t ever seem to hit the radar. Some research indicates that activating or appealing to fears, is not an effective method of motivating behavior. However, other research shows that even when negative, fear is a very compelling motivator and often results in a positive direction, making it a veritable sheep in a wolf’s clothing. In one particular experiment, on fear of failure, Bartels and Ryan (2013) demonstrated important correlations between fear of failure and performance, alleging that avoidance is the overwhelming concern of the individual who is driven by fear of failure.…

I feel like John Keats’s intention into writing this poem was understanding that at the time he was very ill and that he might die of an early death. John Keats is very frustrated that he may never achieve his life’s work and to never experience love. He longs for love and fame, but in the end of the poem he realizes how small his desires are and basically just gives up and looks out into the ocean. John Keats’s tone in this whole poem is very doubtful. He is always doubtful in finding love and fame.…

Common phobias include nyctophobia, social phobia, acrophobia, and so on, and the decision for most people of society is to conquer these fears, which allows them to achieve a reliable solution. They are able to act freely because they contain no purpose to be fearful.…

Albert Einstein once stated, “Adversity introduces a man to himself,” and it is the struggles one faces in life that bring about a further understanding of oneself and one’s capabilities. One can only know how much they can endure after experiencing the stress of demanding situations. The ability for adversity to transform humans lives is less dependent on the form that adversity comes in and more reliant on the way one manages it which will expose one’s true character and ability to adapt to change. This idea complements Horace’s assertion which expresses how adversity has a way of stimulating certain capabilities that would not normally appear under the circumstances of success and prosperity. Therefore, it can be said that adversity does…
