The seventh unit of the course of Globalization has given us the opportunity to learn about the health and globalization. In this unit we were able to discuss critical topics such as: Infectious diseases and global public health, Global public health system, genetically modified organisms, (GMO) Global diseases. Because the world is become a village, it is of great that these topics be considered. Remember that the more that people and products move across nations as we becoming increasingly globalized, the more we increase the chance for the spread of disease around the world. It is said that: “infectious agents can also be “imported” into other countries through the food trade” (nd). The globalization of food supplies raises questions about safety standards for food production and processing. In order to palliate with such a problem, organizations such as U.S. Agency for International Development, The Center for Disease Control, Food Safety Modernization and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that serve as an assistance project aimed at helping subsistence farmers must expanding the FDA's overseas presence provides increased oversight for food import, make sure that the products are inspected by qualified third party, FDA is not authorized under the law to approve, certify, license, or otherwise sanction individual food importers, products, labels, or shipments, (US Food and Drug Administration), have an overview of exporting and so forth.

How does increased trade in food lead to the spread of food-borne illnesses? What measures can be taken to reduce the incidence of these diseases?
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates roughly 1 in 6 Americans (48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of food-borne diseases each year, (University of Rhode Island). The increase in trade would lead to the spread of food-borne illnesses in that illness can affect anyone who eats a contaminated food. That is why measures are to be taken as to understand how the food is become unsafe and what must be done to keep the food
