Augustus scored a touch down today! He'll never know it but the other team allowed it. Augie lives with a spastic diaplegia. He struts like Jar Jar Binx and has the courage of a lion. My favorite lion, The Cowardly one; he's fragile, loving and unknowingly brave. I'm thankful for the gesture the opposing team made. I wasn't sure how to feel about it at first. My initials thoughts were "that's not what I want for him"; I don't want anything handed to him out of pity. Secondary thoughts were, oh sh#t Augie scored a touchdown! Then seeing him run from the field afterwards and the high fives that rained upon him, I realized...my sensibilities don't have a say so in Augie's life.
