Suggested Bereavement Leave

Following our discussion, I am providing you with the below research information that I used to assist me in the drafting of a suggested bereavement leave policy. It meets the provincial regulations regarding non-paid days, paid days, eligibility, and length of service for employees working in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Employees in British Columbia take three unpaid days of leave from their job when there has been a death of a family member. The definition of immediate family includes the spouse, parent, and grandparent. The government website does not specify the length of service to be eligible. I believe they are immediately able to take the above leave.
