According to (skillsyouneed) listening interpersonal skills are key to effective communication, which that can eliminate being misunderstood when information is conveyed. The first rule of mastering listening is you must stop talking, put your focus on what the speaker is saying without interruption. Secondly, show the speaker that you are engaged in the conversation by maintaining eye contact and use nods or other gestures that show you are interested and listening. Show empathy with the speaker but do not agree with something that is not true, wait then counter but keep an open mind of the views and opinion of the speakers. Next, pay attention to the tone of the speaker, which will give insight of the emphasis of what is being said to get a bigger picture of the speaker’s ideas by linking information together.
