Reflection On Returning Back For A Master Degree

Decent Essays
I could not agree with you more. Making the decision returning back for a master degree is a lot scarier and the pressure of keeping your grade a 3.0 or above is some serious stuff. Also being asked to think deeper is a lot of pressure. I’m not too good at explaining things and can be very short with people because I lack the patient. It is going to be hard because I have get out of my confront zone and work on the patients apart too.
In our reading I’m glad to have learn that we have community that we can depend on that can help us move forward from student to scholars. I look forward to the challenge. What were your fears when you decided on your masters? Do you have any similar challenges like myself that you may have to overcome?

Prince et al. (2005) previously surveyed fourth year medical students on the effect of transition from pre-clinical to clinical practice (during clinical clerkship programs) on their perceived workload, clinical knowledge/skills and learning. It was revealed that the students were uncertain as to how to behave and act, mainly because they were uncertain of what was expected of them. The students also reported a drastic increase in clinical workload, which reduced their study hours. Consequently, a majority of students felt they were moderately prepared with regard to applying their pre-clinical knowledge and skills (ibid).…

Being enrolled in Clinical Apps has definitely been an experience for me. Cognitively it has been a challenge especially when trying to figure out what I was going to do with my client and how I was going to be able to help her with her anger issues. There was also the thought of was I doing everything right. Even though this was kind of like training and we were getting feedback from our professor and classmates, I was unsure and apprehensive if everything was correct. I wanted to make sure that my wording was correct, if I was using feeling words, and if I was paraphrasing with every question.…

My academic journey has not been smooth or easy, but it has helped to create the person I am today: an inquisitive, intelligent, driven, resourceful woman with the courage to challenge myself with demanding goals and the confidence to know that I am capable of achieving them. I was a model student throughout my early years of school, achieving good grades and demonstrating a tremendous interest in learning; however, when I became the victim of bullying incidents in high school, my academic progress was stifled. After high school, I felt that I needed time to determine my direction in education and in life before entering college; therefore, I worked until I was 20, when I began my studies at Nassau Community College (NCC). Although I enjoyed returning to an academic environment, I was still searching for my calling, and the extensive student population made it extremely difficult to obtain guidance from advisors or faculty. My experience at NCC was terminated abruptly when I badly broke my leg and needed to withdraw from school for the medical attention I required.…

Personal statement The year 2004 marked a time in my family’s history in which we took a substantial step forward by coming to the United States. Before that, we lived through and experienced a lot of unspeakable things. Originating in Somalia, my parents understood that it was a place where nothing could be achieved. Civil war broke out, devastating hundreds upon thousands of lives, including several of my family members. Corruption infected the government, military, and all forms of law enforcement.…

I do know that I want to be able to have my teacher feel safe with letting me perform certain treatments or procedures without her. So that as well as successfully implementing them will be a great goal next month. I also know that I haven't been doing as great as I could be in theory class so I feel as though that has affected my "clinical state of mind". I also felt weird about having patients back to back be discharged.…

My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it. I literally woke up one morning and said to myself “I think I’ll go back to college” and I made the call. I called the College of New Rochelle and made the appointment for the admissions test. And before I knew what was actually happening, I was a matriculated college student.…

In regard to working this profession, I’ve discovered a new-found awareness of focus and understanding. If there’s anything that I’ve learned from my aunt, it’s that the patients she works with are undergoing a difficult situation and I must be the one in control to guide them through this process.
