Personal Reflection: High School Mustang Events

Improved Essays
For my in school Community Service hours I continued more of the Mustang events. The events that I used for my Community Service hours were the Homecoming Football Game, the Breast Cancer Walk, and Trunk or Treat. The Homecoming Game was the first football game I’ve been too since I was in high school, which in my opinion is quite sad. I was able to show my school spirit at an event I’ve never been to before, and the football team surprisingly won. Two things that I learned from this game were that, I do not understand football as much as I thought I did and that football games can actually be enjoyable. The Breast Cancer Walk was also quite rewarding due to the astounding amount of people that were present. It was amazing to be walking for …show more content…
During the Second Summer Freshmen Orientation and the Freshmen First Day I helped many lost freshmen and was able to answer a questions, if the Freshmen had any. Sadly, during these two events the most prominent piece of information that I learned was that some of the Freshmen can be quite entitled, however some students did have interesting questions and concerns. I also learned that despite my hopes and dreams, the school had still not installed air conditioning. Back to School Night was very similar to the other two events however it was more hectic, due to more people asking information. The one sports game I attended was the Boys Soccer Games on November 7, 2016. I found this sports game much more enjoyable because I used to play soccer, so I was able to follow the game. However it was interesting to watch since I had friends on both of the teams. One thing that I was proud of was that many students came out to support the boys on their way to a championship. In all, these Mustang events and the sports games allowed me to connect with my school spirit more, which I am grateful

July 22, 2012 was one of my favorite days of my life, it was the day we won the Gopher State Baseball Tournament. We got to take a coach bus up to target field and walk on the field with all the other age groups that also won. On the way up no one could sit still we were all exhilarated to be on a Major League Baseball field. But before we get to that, we should start at the beginning of the season and the state tournament. It was my first year of Royals baseball…

“Game Day” isn’t a regular day at Xavier University of Louisiana; it’s a day for Xavier’s Golden Nugget’s to defend their pride, while we cast our wide angel lens towards the basketball court, capturing the engulfing reflection pool in all of its pride. Athletics are a big part to most universities and students’ life. Either they love to participate or some love to go and cheer their peers and colleagues on. I learned this while working at a Xavier’s Women basketball game. I wanted to see my fellow students in a less stressed atmosphere, rather than a classroom. My interest was also peaked because I watched basketball games in high school…

Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…

Throughout this semester I performed a total of 12 hours of service. In March, I completed 2 hours of service at the Friends for the Future Phone-a-thon. At the Phone-a-thon, I was able to give back to our school by connecting with and thanking people who generously donated to Friends for the Future. Afterwards, I performed the Spiritual Work of Mercy, pray for the living, by praying for the people who donated to our school. I chose this service because I love giving back to my school.…

The National Junior Honor Society is a very prestigious program that rewards students for their service in their communities, leadership skills, citizenship, and character. Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School highlights these important qualities and I honored to be selected to apply for the society. I believe my morals, love of service, and leadership skills make me a strong candidate to the National Junior Honor Society. In order to raise money for prom this year, I accompanied the class of 2019, for 5.5 hours, to a west point game and worked in concessions. I had a great experience working with my peers to achieve a goal that would benefit the senior class. Recently I have engaged in service with my church, for 4 hours, helping to move furniture while they were switching locations. From this experience I learned that sacrificing my time for a communal effort may seem minuscule, but ultimately helps increase efficiency. Also I volunteered at the annual Easter egg hunt at memorial park last weekend for 3.5 hours.…

When I was doing community service was taking the bus to the different places. My mother did not have a car and she taught me how to use the public transportation, so I did not have to depend on anyone and assist to any event I wanted/want to be part of. Public transportation in Orlando is not the best, but I did not let this limit me, even though it was tiring to wake up 2 hours earlier, wait an extra hour for the bus or walk a couple of miles. This was part of my learning and was part of my formation to become more independent. Since I enjoy going to volunteer I did not mind waking up 2 hours earlier to catch that bus or walk an extra mile to be able to get to the place I was volunteering at.…

Community service is one of those activities that is outside of school and normally on weekends, but if you got to pick your type of service. Would that make it better? There’s thousands of choices that you could pick from to get your community service hours in, like hanging out with the senior citizens, picking up parks, cleaning an older person 's house, highway cleanup, send care packages or even raise money to help someone in need. The way I would spend getting my community service hours would be hanging around the senior citizens. The first reason I would earn my hours with the senior citizens is because they tell great stories.…

I had planned on doing all three service learning opportunities, but the weather chose differently for that last opportunity. With those unfortunate events at hand I will only talk about the two opportunities that I did get to complete. The first service learning that I got to partake in was the 5k run. Although, I wasn’t a part of the volunteers who got to interact with all of the families I still gathered a valuable experience. I was among the volunteers who set up everything for the race.…

My responsibilities included: restocking over the counter medications, organizing filled prescriptions, and assisting customers with their transactions. Through volunteering I met some outstanding mentors and felt as if I really made a difference to the employee’s at Parkview and the patients they treat. Being a part of Phi Delta Chi philanthropy committee allowed me to help plan and be a part of a variety of volunteer experiences.
