Being a 1st generation student, I have faced numerous challenges throughout high school and during college. My mother has worked all her 7 days a week to provide finances for our family. Nobody in my family has attended college and I have done many things on my own. During senior year I knew I wanted to attend college, but knew very little about how and when. I took all my standardized test during senior year, because I had no clue taking them junior year and then retaking them senior year could ultimately advance your scores. During my senior year I was working very hard on applying to colleges and trying to figure out how to fill out FAFSA. I took it into my own hands as my mother continued to work.
