• Metals
Metal structure is made up of crystals of metals which are made up of positive metal ions and these ions are surrounded by a sea of delocalized electrons. To separate these substances from this crystal lattice a lot of energy is needed. In between the positive and negative ions is present a strong electrostatic force of attraction. That is the reason why metals have strong melting and boiling points. In order to slide one layer of the metal ions over the other layer very less amount of energy is used. Therefore, metals are malleable and can be formed into any shape. In this metal crystal, the sea of delocalized electrons are mobile. As soon as the potential difference is applied to a piece of metal, the electrons starts moving

Melting and Boiling Points:
The particles/substances which are present in a metal are held or joined together by strong metallic bonds. A lot of energy is used to separate these particles.
That is why metals have high melting and boiling point. Metals are solid as well as crystalline. They are arranged in a regular pattern and are held closed together.
2. Electrical Conductivity:
Metals conduct electricity. The sea of delocalized electrons are mobile and are free to move around in the 3D structure of metals. The electrons can even cross grain the boundaries. The metallic bond is present in the structure of a metal until the atoms are touching each other.
Metals which are known to be liquid conducts electricity although the metal atoms are moving here and there, and the force of the delocalized electrons remains until the metal boils.
3. Thermal Conductivity:
The process of colliding of metals with one another is known as Kinetic Energy. When the atoms of the molecules collide, heat energy is produced/released. More atoms colliding, make more energy to release. Therefore, metals are very good conductors of heat.
4. Malleability and Ductility:
-Malleable- To be beaten into sheets
-Ductile- To be drawn into

The term “move” is a misnomer because data values in the source location aren’t removed. They’re tested, and copies of these values are placed in the destination location. Therefore, a move operator is really a copy operator.…

Moreover, metallic bonds have a simple crystal lattice in solid state and are the weakest primary chemical bonds. Hence the reason to why pure metals are dissolved with other elements such as: carbon for mild steels. Metal alloys have increased strength and hardness. The structure of alloys reduces the space between each ion, so there is less space for delocalized electrons and it improves the chemical bond with each element within the…

Through a series of test, the type of bonds each of the nine unknown solids exhibit could be identified. Solid 1 was confirmed of having polar bonds because of its high solubility in water and because it did not precipitate in base while solid 2 was identified as having ionic bonds because of its solubility in water and insolubility in hexane and alcohol. Like solid 2, solid 3 also has ionic bonding due to its solubility in water but also because it formed a precipitate in the base. Solid 4 has polar bonds because of its solubility in water and because it didn’t precipitate in a base. Solid 5 was the only solid identified with metallic bonding because it could conduct electricity as a solid while all the other solids could not.…

The passage states, " Electrons spin around the center, or nucleus, of atoms, in the same way the moon spins around the earth." In "Conducting Solutions", the central idea or purpose is to teach about solutions and how some can conduct electricity better than others. The passage also talks about ions. According to the article ions are atoms or small groups of atoms that have an electrical charge. If a solution has more ions than the solution can conduct electricity better than a solution that contains less ions.…

The Physics of PET Scans All elements are composed of atoms, which are composed of small particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons. The nucleus of an atom is made of a tightly packed collection of protons and neutrons. You would think that with positively charged protons being packed so closely together the nucleus would fall apart, however this is not the case. There is an attractive force called the “nuclear force” which is able to overcome the repulsive force of the adjacent protons and holds the nucleus together.…

Introduction: Dmitri Mendeleev is accredited with the creation of the periodic table but in reality, many scientists have contributed in the years leading up to the production. Before people could even write they knew some of the elements that are on the periodic table. The elements include silver, gold, copper, tin, lead, and mercury (substances that could not be broken down chemically). Not until 1649 did a man by the name of Hennig Brand discover phosphorous (an element) through scientific experiments and research. Another scientist, Johann Dobereiner, had begun to group elements with properties alike in the years of 1817 to 1829.…

Lead is a common metal with many advantages, however, has significant disadvantages that impact the health of humans. The toxicity of lead is a serious issue, especially due to the fact that it was a commonly found in many products before the severity was discovered. Lead poisoning is considered an extreme disadvantage of this double edged chemical, especially due to the chronic low-dose exposure within older homes and lead paint. Due to the lack of stability in the immune system children are obviously at greater risk, however, lead poisoning is common in adults who are exposed to specific environments. Common results of lead poisoning in adults are kidney and nervous system damage, cancer, anemia, and stroke, according to universities studies.…

But he never ever felt that “hot”, because he lived in a cold area, he only felt hot when the house’s heat was too much. So he turned on the stove and touched the fire, and then he learned that lesson the hard way. That was an example of Conduction.…

The melting point of a substance is best described as the temperature at which a solid becomes a liquid (Bruice 2014). On the molecular level, when a compound melts the forces between the molecules become weaker. This is because when a substances heats up the kinetic energy between the molecules increase causing the molecules to vibrate. When the vibrations become strong enough for the molecules to move around and pass other molecules, the compound that is being heated up starts to melt and become a liquid.…
