Her typical day consisted of greeting the kids in the morning, and then teaching and guiding 6th grade students with the 6th grade English curriculum that was given to her from her boss who is actually the principal of the school. Mrs. Hurd not only teaches though. When she's on her break, she's not really on her break. She staples, make copies, and also makes lesson plans to prepare for future classes. That doesn't even include all the papers that she has to grade. She even states that, "It's not only a full time job, it's overtime that you don't get paid for." Observing the class from an outside perspective made me realize that I wouldn't really have the patience to become a teacher, especially a 6th grade teacher. I do have way more respect for teachers and what they do now though, because they do have to put in lots of hard work and extra hours in which can be quite strenuous. Another reason why teaching really wouldn't be a career that I would do is because I don't really enjoy repeating myself the whole day. Observing that class made me realize that the teacher basically talks and repeats everything for the whole day. Don't get me wrong though there are some positive things about teaching.
