Group Performance Evaluation

This report will analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of our group activity which was the presentation of Shari Neagle and Tim Moffatt. This evaluation report also includes self-assessment identifying the opportunities, disadvantages and improvements of personal and group performances.
After completing the group activity, I have recognised both personal development and learning from the SACE capabilities. In personal development, I have made progress on the following factors: role model, self-confidence, organisation and leadership skills.
I have developed a good role model skill because at first, most of the group members thought that since Shari was our guest speaker, we didn’t need to write an email and Aynsleigh could just ask for

For example: Initially everyone was told to do research before organising the group activity, but not many people did as they didn’t consider it as their priority. However, only three people, including me, did the research and came up with our own personal inquiries that needed explanation from Shari. And due to the limited time we had after confirming the presentation date, we were able to approach the prepared questions straightaway through email. This allowed plenty of time for Shari to prepare before the presentation day came. As a result, my organisation skill along with the two other people’s led a successful outcome of the group activity as Shari utilised and answered the questions we asked beforehand which helped developed our general understating of the topic. I thought my organisation skill had helped in achieving the successes of our group activity as I was responsible for the ‘contact list’. By creating the contact list, it made communication easier as everyone had each other’s contacts. My organisation skill had also allowed me to inform the others the moment Shari had replied to our email; I snapshotted the email and posted it on Google docs to update the …show more content…
They were not afraid of others’ opinions always had an explanation to back up what they’ve said. From this experience, I have learnt to step out of my comfort zone, took their strengths into consideration and contributed my ideas to the group. I have also learnt to take the opportunity to ask/answer questions no matter right or wrong because I know that no one was judgemental. The negative aspect that I have learnt from some people include: lack of participation in group discussions, not using the time wisely, mucking around and sometimes made situations worse by being stubborn and selfish. Despite some weaknesses that were found within the group, I thought that our collaboration skill was up to a high standard as everyone worked well together and achieved a very successful

When I started my project I had to figure out the order I wanted the video clips and statistic to go in (see appendix 9). So the video would not have a sense of clutter ness. I decided to open my video up with a news clip that portrayed racial profiling in action. The reason I choose to start it off with a news clip is because it grabs the viewer attention. The next thing in my video was a quote from Martin Luther King which stated “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”…

For this assignment, my group’s topic was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how it is prevalent in the novel, ‘Speak’ by Laurie Hall Anderson. My responsibility was to do the facts and statistics slide and to do the two characters that experienced/influenced PTSD slide. While working on the assignment, I did run into some challenges. The biggest being that it was hard to find facts and statistics on PTSD that were Canadian and relatively recent. I ran into this issue because many websites that I found focused more on America, on worldwide facts and statistics, and the information was quite outdated.…

Another aspect of the article that Hays’ focused her attention to was group work practice, she strongly believed that group workers need to be mindful about social justice components that are present in the group. She mentioned six different recommendations for group work practice, the one that another author, Arredondo, mentioned on was ‘expand the scope of group work’. The main purpose of having this in the article was to show how crucial it is for group workers to continue learning about cultures. As well as to find new ways of developing and leading the group. Arredondo adds on to this recommendation by stating, “counselors must take on the worldview of community-based change agents and apply skills of empowerment to support others who…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

Regarding the team dynamics, the literature provides proof that our group have shown several positive aspects for producing successful teamwork. Commitment and clear communication have shown to be key in achieving goals. I can personally say teamwork understanding and new set of ideas have been created. One area considered upon reflection is to have allowed my group members more opportunity to express their ideas and opinions. I felt like I suggested ideas quickly, and strong about my opinions.…

Having started the People and Organization module, in the first week of seminar, forming a group was necessary, as it was a discussion based activity, but unknowingly it helped me form my group for the Junction Hotel presentation. The aim behind this piece of writing is to reflect upon the process and the formation of my group. Reflection is ‘... a form of mental processing with a purpose and/or anticipated outcome that is applied to relatively complex or unstructured ideas for which there is not an obvious solution’. (Moon 1999 pg.23). Moon (1999) also states that we reflect for many reasons; important reasons being to critically review our behavior and that of others.…

As a collaborator, my strengths were that I made sure that everything got done on time and that it was done right. My weaknesses were that I didn’t really talk to my group as much as I should have and I kind of didn’t put responsibility on anyone but myself. Group work requires talking to others, otherwise you’ll just pull all of the weight and the other group members will get a free ride. Honestly, I feel comfortable controlling the whole process of group work and have people just follow what I say so I know that things are getting done right. This is probably not good, but I don’t feel like I can trust groups because a lot of the time people don’t do what they’re supposed to.…

Everyone remembers the teacher who gave a large amount of homework over the course of a school year which would leave children stressed and worn out. However, when he or she said two outstanding words “group work” the student would be ecstatic because they have less work on themselves, it works on their skills for later in life, and they have a chance to be heard and not get bullied for their input. I agree with group work in the classroom because of how it helps many students overcome numerous difficult situations in their life. All of the benefits to group work will improve each kids impact on the world later in their lifetime. There are many positive outcomes of group work for each student in the group.…

It is always very hard to interact with people whose experiences or beliefs that differ from your own and it’s especially hard if you’re an introverted person who would rather just enjoy the comfort of working by themselves like myself. However, I have had to endure the undesirable decision to work with people who hold different beliefs and experiences than I do. There have been times where I have thoroughly enjoyed working with others; however, there have been times where I’ve wished that I could have worked by myself. In my junior year of high school, I had signed up for a class called AP Capstone Seminar that called for the students to collaborate with other individuals in the class to create a argumentative essay and present a presentation.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
