The evaluation of an organization is a task that often presents with its own set of challenges. Despite this, the evaluation should be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, especially when considering the impact it has upon the lives of others. The following is the analysis of a healthcare organization known as the Get Well Clinic (GWC). Our evaluation of GWC utilizes a framework-based perspective that outlines both findings and suggestions for improvement. First, we examine GWC’s structural frame to assess rules, policies, and goals (Bolman & Deal, 2013). Second, GWC’s human resource frame is analyzed, focusing on the individuals within the organization including their strengths, weaknesses, and competencies (Bolman & Deal, 2013). …show more content…
At first, Dr. Sings provided direct supervision with lateral coordination and resemblance to Helgeson’s web of inclusion (Bolman & Deal, 2013). Dr. Sings’ structure was informal and placed her at the center of the web which was interlocked with the rest of the organization. As the clinic grew, the web-like structure developed many inadequacies and weakened (Bolman & Deal, 2013). Consequently, GWC transitioned into a more traditional hierarchy with vertical coordination and yet, it exemplified components of adhocracy due to obscurity of leadership and unclear staff roles (Bolman & Deal, …show more content…
This will improve team performance by enabling accountability and productivity (Bolman & Deal, 2013). Establishing contextual variables within the organization will help form a team structure by identifying roles, promoting mutual reliance, and synchronization (Bolman & Deal, 2013).
Fourth, improve communication and morale amongst staff. Implementing regular meetings will provide opportunities to share opinions, receive feedback and promote a culture of support. Examples of this include: arranging staff meetings during a potluck to create an open atmosphere and help ease tension, and utilizing an anonymous survey to assess attitudes. We believe both of these recommendations will contribute to increased morale.
Further recommendations include: (a) reevaluating the effectiveness of billing and coding procedures; (b) improve reimbursement by enhancing software, supplementary training, or hiring additional staff to accommodate the workload; (c) consider replacing the BM due to insubordination and ineffective billing, and (d) implement routine chart audits for billing and coding to improve reimbursement rates. Renegotiating insurance contracts and acquiring additional credentialing may also improve reimbursement rates and revenue. As reimbursement becomes more effective, this creates opportunities to hire more staff to relieve work overload or to start offering health insurance to improve
