The A.B Paterson College Early Childhood Centre has established a relationship with the above services in order to connect parents directly to the key person in charge, to support families towards a good outcome. These relationships assist in maintaining and fostering positive, safe and supportive community partnerships between the home and the centre. Creating such relationships builds trust with each child and their families, to the point where they are comfortable to reveal any doubts either large or small to the educators (McArdlle, 2009). Features of the region/town:…

In a child day care center children are in groups by their age instead of being with kids with mixed ages. In a family day care the kids are mixed no matter what their age is and can be a good thing. Children younger than the other can learn from the older kids and learn how to imitate the older kids such as their actions. In a child day care center the children will learn how to get along and work together. A child care center can be more reliable for the child to learn more how to feel comfortable with other children and learn how to get along with them.…
Observed and documented children’s learning improvement and achievements daily and/or areas requiring special attention. Many people have asked me, “Why do you want to be an Early Childhood Educator?” and “Why do you want to teach young children?” Reflecting on my own experiences, my motivation in Early Childhood Education and Primary Teaching began during my high school year when I volunteered at the elementary school for an event, which I facilitated group activities for young children. My experience in an elementary school had helped me decide that this is the career that I wish to pursue.…
Women make up almost half of the total workforce in the United States. For many of those women, they have to make one of the hardest decisions in life when they become mothers. That question is, do they stay at home or continue their career? The choice of course is up to the individual mother. However, mothers of younger than school-aged children should not be encouraged to forego employment, as having a job can be more beneficial to well-being of the children.…
Assignment 1 From reviewing and skimming through the syllabus and book the three items that I find the most interesting is Early childhood education as a profession, Health, Safety, and Communicating with Young children, and Modeling adult relationships in early childhood settings. I chose early childhood as a profession because it has always been my passion to work with children choosing this profession can’t just be a random choice it has to be something a person want to do. When it comes to working with children you have to be patient, nurturing, you must abide by certain rules in the work place as well as state laws. The text put this topic first because it gives details about what it means to be an early childhood educator, it talks…
For the three positions I selected, I thought of an entry level position in which I could “get my feet wet” in and feel it would not be too overwhelming. I feel Early Childhood Educators would be a great way to get to know the community and families, not to mention I already have my Paraprofessional license, in which case it would not be hard to transfer nor with my degree be hard to get the proper teacher licensing. For my second choice as an Educator Director, I felt that I was already involved with the place I would work for and be advancing my degree into an MA would also be an opportunity to advance my career. Having several years of employment in my field and knowing more of what an employer wants, not to mention having the opportunity…
Professional Issues in Early Childhood Education Final Synthesis Paper My journey as an early childhood education student at South Dakota State University has proved to be an exhilarating, inspiring, trying, and an eye opening experience. Originally when I started at South Dakota State University I was journalism major, but I recognized very quickly that I wasn’t truly passionate about writing. My true passion was working with children and their families. At the end of my freshman year I changed my major to early childhood education and the following semester is when my journey began.…
I believe that early childhood education is an essential for school readiness. Early childhood education plays an important role in children’s development in cognitive and social skills. At the age of three years old the children begin to develop more rapidly. Children progress in their physical, social, intellectual, and emotional. According to The Urban Child Institute, studies have shown that “from the ages of 0 to 3, a baby’s brain grows to 80% of its adult size and is twice as active as adults”.…
I believe that my calling on this Earth was to help children by becoming an Educator. Teachers are exceptional people that love and care for children, like they are their own. In life we gain knowledge and we must share that knowledge on to others. Education is a lifelong process and the most important part is learned in the early stages of life. Early Childhood Education should always provide enrichment in emotional, social, and academic skills to every child.…
An effective school leader should possess skills such as creativity, implementation, evaluation, and excellent communication. I conducted an interview with Tamara Perez, who is currently a director at Smart Starts Preschool. She has an A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education, Staff Credentials, Director Credentials, and has been teaching for 12 years. Becoming a teacher was not exactly what she had in mind. She was going through a rough time in her life and she began working as a teacher.…

The Interview Interviewing my ninety year old father, Joseph Denis, had me come to the realization that our childhood and teenage years had many similarities, yet had many more differences. Born in 1926 , Joseph was raised in a different era than myself, as I was born in 1961. Joe had six brothers and two sisters, while I had three brothers and three sisters. Although the technology had advanced and the basic lifestyles had changed over the years, family time was important to each of our families as we were growing up. This paper will compare the similarities and contrasts of our upbringings and lifestyles.…
