In the movie Divergent directed by Neil Burger, society has been split up in to six factions; Amity (the peaceful), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Candor (the honest), Erudite (the intelligent), and the Factionless (the homeless). When you reach the age of sixteen you take an aptitude test that will tell you what faction you belong in. Once you choose this faction you can no longer go back to your original faction. So if you decide that you don’t want to live with the faction of your choosing then you will become factionless. There are some people who fall in to more than one faction and these people are called divergents. They are feared by society because they think they are dangerous however they’re the key to a new way of life. Every character in the movie has their own set of actions; Tris (Shailene Woodley) is a fighter, Four (Theo James) is her protector, Natalie (Ashley Judd) is a peace keeper, Eric (Jai Courtney) is a leader, Marcus (Ray Stevenson) is an abuser, Christina (Zoe Kravitz) speaks her mind, Peter (Miles Teller) is a follower, Andrew (Tony Goldwyn) is a protector, Caleb (Ansel Elgort) is a follower, Tori (Maggie Q) is a coward, Jeanine (Kate Winslet) is a dictator, Will (Ben Lloyd-Hughes) is a follower, and Al (Christian Madsen) is …show more content…
In this movie people are separated at age sixteen by jobs and get assigned a husband or wife, children, and jobs. The main character Jonas is chosen to be the receiver of memories. For the rest of his life he will receive memories and keep them from society for their own protection. In Divergent Jeanine hunts and seeks divergents who have ruined the system. However she’s using them for her own purpose. Divergents are actually people who have beat the system and that’s what our society is made out of. People aren’t just supposed to be smart, strong, intelligent, kind, and peaceful. They’re supposed to have all of these qualities to be a good
