I tend to think everything I write sucks, but if I keep a positive mind, it makes me keep trying to improve. And I would rather think I suck at writing, then be completely convinced that I rule the writing world. Sometimes I find writing assignments intimidating, I feel like I’m “just not good at writing” and therefore approach writing assignments with the expectation of failure.

But, having confidence will help you take some sort of action, risk, or even believe in you. If you ever think you are going to fail a writing assignment, all it takes is to move from failure to success is being confident.
Becoming a good writing takes time. I will admit that some people do seem to be natural born writers. But as any other skill, writing can be learned. Good writes study, practice, and get feedback, which will give them true confidence. This is the best way to gain more confidence and it will get better over time. Also, the more you know about your topic, the easier it will be to write. Time and practice will teach everyone to become better writers. I believe confidence can be built by doing something over and over again. But the main focus is on improving what you do. The biggest struggle I face when it comes to writing is not knowing how to structure and organize a paper. Wondering where and how to start will automatically make me lose my confidence. Sometimes I will take hours trying to figure out how to start the first sentence. There is an emotional stage I go through every time I write a paper, where I have been at it for five minutes and I’m already hating myself. Feeling like I can’t do this and wondering why I choose this major or why am I even in college? I start freaking out and start telling myself why I suck at writing.
