Class 101 Midterm

I earned an 80 out of 100 on part one of the midterm. I didn’t study because the time I had allotted to do so was replaced with an emergency at work. I’m very happy to receive an 80 on something I wasn’t truly prepared for. It brought my previous grade of 99 to a 95. I am not surprised to have a good grade in this class. All I need to do is homework to get a good grade and there is no way I won’t do my homework. Especially if it’s a majority of my grade in that class. There was an assignment I received a 105 on and that was odd. I assumed that I overdid it somehow and Professor Henry-Wilson thought I did an exceptional job on that particular assignment. The lowest grade I have right now is a B+ in English. I consider the grades I have great. Not where I want them, because I want straight A’s. Nonetheless, I can still achieve that goal I set out to accomplish if I do well on the remaining essays. I only have a midterm in one other course; Computer Tech and Applications. I have a 100 in that course and I know I won’t ace the midterm, but I do know I’ll do well. I have a strong background in computers that has been a great foundation of learning in that course. I rely on my background in computers heavily and it’s proven to be useful. …show more content…
In business and accounting I’m very confident. I still make silly mistakes when writing. These mistakes are why I don’t have an A right now. Sentence fragments, improper use of some punctuation, and sentence structure hold me back. I have been utilizing the writing center often to work on these things. I will continue to do so throughout my time at Nashua Community College as well. Other than working on my writing, I want to enjoy doing the work. I never want to sit down and do the work. I force myself the night before to do so. I find that to not be healthy. I lose sleep and stress over the work as I put it off. I could easily do the work earlier and not have to worry about

Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

I’ve chosen to focus on “Exploration and Argumentation” as the subject of this reflective introduction, specifically looking at my argument paper, “Abortion: Right or Wrong?” as a reference to the importance of this learning outcome. I chose to focus on this particular learning outcome because it was the most difficult essay for me to create.
