Question 1 (LO1a) Five Levels of managerial communications

Effective communication process in an organization is very essential and as a manager or a leader, one should possess this characteristic.

A.INTRAPERSONAL COMMUNICATION - Communication that occurs between one person or an individual only. This process is usually use to seek clarification, to discuss issues or concerns with the manager and any personal related views or opinions. Example that can be sited is a one-on-one meeting with an employee regarding his work performance.

B.INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION - Happens between two or more individuals and the exchange of information, feelings and it’s meaning normally uses both verbal and non verbal communications. It measures not only

1.INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION - Is the type of communication used specifically to the scenario wherein Anna spoke with Sara about changing her work schedule. As I assumed, Anna discussed her personal concerns and feelings to Sara in a one-on-one meeting or discussion. And Sara as an immediate supervisor assured her that changing her schedule will not be a problem and that she will notify the president of the Nursing home about the change. It is evident then that this communication process is effective especially to those who wanted to discuss their personal concern in a face-to-face meeting.

2.INTRA - ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION - The communication that occurred between Barbara and Rick Walters and between Charles and the Chief of staff, Dr. Goodman is considered as Intra - organizational. As soon as Barbara overheard the conversation of Anna and Sara she went directly to Rick complaining and asking to change her work schedule too. Since Rick does not want any conflict to any of his subordinates he approved Barbara’s request without consulting or informing the rest of the team. On the other hand, Barbara told Charles about the change and he wanted to change his schedule too so he approach Dr. Goodman. And since Dr. Goodman was not aware of the other changes he immediately granted Charles request by letting her assistant to change Charles schedule. The entire scenario suggests that it is an inefficient intra - organizational communication. It is where the communication between the member of the team was not properly disseminated that arises to more issues that affects the entire
