What To Expect
The burial service is the final step in the funeral process, though in some instances it may be the only service for the deceased person. The burial service most commonly consists of a few basic elements: placement of the casket or remains at the gravesite, a short message or reading by a pastor or spiritual leader, and then a conclusion with the attendees paying their respect to the family of the deceased. A veteran’s service differs slightly with the addition of a military honor guard providing a 21-gun salute along with the proper folding and presentation of the American flag to the next of kin.

Feel free to participate with any traditions such as shoveling a small amount of soil into the grave or singing a song or hymn. If any element makes you uncomfortable, remain quiet and respectfully observe the proceedings.
Plan Ahead To Avoid Disruptions:
Your focus should be on being courteous and respectful during the service, so be sure to silence mobile phones and devices or leave them in your car. If you have a baby or young child, bring a quiet toy or snack to keep them busy during the proceedings.
