The ever-rising prevalence of the use of antimicrobial agents by health care professionals since its first discovery by Alexander Fleming is enough to assess its diverse applications in pharmacotherapy. In dentistry as well, antimicrobials are frequently employed for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes giving rise to the debatable issue of use and misuse of these agents.
