How do indigenous groups survive so long in the Polar Lands?

The Sami were nomadic people who moved their area regularly due to seasons. These Sami people were very smart and adapted to their lifestyle, using things around them. The reindeers herders are one of the most famous groups. The Sami people hunted and trapped, bears, moose, reindeers and beavers. They also created storage huts to keep meat and other materials away from animals.

A rainforest is an area with lots of trees, that is made a rainforest for its wet and humid climate.

How have these rainforest indigenous groups adapted to their environment?

The yanomami people live in groups of 40 to 300 in a shelter called a shabono. They hunt fish and grow gardens. There are traditional groups for men and women, the men are hunters and the women gatherers. Conflict between groups is usually to gain more land or capture women, women can also be traded as wives for goods and for marriage arrangements that keep the peace. Marriages are usually done early and are pre-arranged.

Coral Reefs are said to be the rainforests of the sea. They involve alot of wildlife ranging from sharks, to coral, to fish, to sea cucumbers. It is one of the most productive biomes in the world creating homes for alot of wildlife.

Coral reefs are mainly made up of coral but it is also home to other animals such as the clown fish, the parrot fish, seahorses and many more.

What is a desert?

Deserts are environments that can be either hot or cold, but they are always dry. They receive very low rainfall. There are different types of deserts and some can look completely opposite to another one.

The San people are an indigenous tribe with many people, over 85,000 living today.

How have the San people adapted to their environments?

The san people have adapted to their hot, dry environment that is very clever. The san men go hunting with arrows dipped in poison, they store water in ostrich eggshells, in the wet season and store it for the dry season. The San live in small groups, each family lives in a grass hut. The hut is used to store materials, sleep and shade. Women gather and men hunt. Water is the most important resource for the San, because they live in such a dry climate.

Some of the animals that live in the desert areas include, camels, toads, snakes, the thorny devil, birds and many more.

A mountain region is an area either filled with mountains or they only have one mountain. These mountain ranges are under threat of volcanoes and earthquakes.

The mountain regions can range in animals, some areas can have antelopes and grizzly bears, others can have gorillas

What is a group that lives in the Mountain areas?

The Sherpa people are people that are believed to have migrated from Tibet 500 years ago to the Khumbu region. The air in mountain areas would hurt or damage a person who lives in another area, nut it does not hurt the Sherpa people, because they have learned to increase their oxygen intake by breathing faster. They absorb more nitric acid, which would normally cause tissue damage, but for them it increases their blood flow and enlarges their blood vessels.
