Habitats:

The organisms must be adapted to the specific conditions existing in that era.

Adapting to Habitats:

Adaptations are things that help the organisms survive in their habitat, e.g.:

Cactus-spines for protection, ridges to help give eras of shade and roots branched out near the surface to obtain water quickly.

Prey or Predators:

Each type of organism has a special feature that help it to survive in its particular habitat

Predators-long claws,sharp teeth,fast,strong

Prey-poison fangs/skin,camouflaged,agile bodies

Daily Changes:

To maximise their survival in the habitat e.g.:

Crocus plant will open its flower in bright sunshine/when insects will fly into it. At night the flower closes to stop water lose.

Food chain:

Plants are producers-animlas that eat the plants are primary consumers- animals that each them are called secondary consumers e.g.:

grass-rabbit-fox

How do plants get their energy:

Plants get their energy from the sun and this is the basic of all food chains.

Classification:

Where organisms are arranged into groups, in a group they will have similar features and that that makes it easy to and compare them. The name also gives info about the organisms in the group.

5 Kingdoms:

animal: divided to vertebrates & invertebrates

plant:divided into flowering/non flowering plants

fungus:includes mould,mushroom,yeast

protist:variety of simple organisms-many 1 cell

moera:singled-celled, no nucleus but bacteria

Animal Kingdom:

Vertebrates-have backbones

invertebrates- don't have a backbone

Main features of animals:

fish: breath-gills,live in water:shark,salmon,tuna

amphibians:moist-soft skin:frog,toad,newt,

reptiles:dry scaly skin,breath-lungs:snake,tortoise,crocodile

Bird" warm blooded,feathers: eagle,sparrow,owl

Mammal:fur/hair,warm blood:human,horse,bat

Arthropods:

There are more species than any other animal. They can be subdivided into four classes:

insect,arachnid,myriapods.crustaceans
