Why did discontent emerge about WWI? |

When and how did the government know they had lost the war? |
Despite telling people the war was going well, the government knew by October 1918 they had lost. Over six million soldiers has either been killed or wounded and Germany's allies were close to defeat. The army was exhausted and troops were deserting. |
