Many Mexican Americans were in street gangs are wore zoot suits which were a symbol of rebellion. White sailors stationed at a base in Long Beach invaded Mexican-American communities and attacked zoot-suiters. When Hispanics fought back, the police arrested them and zoot suits were consequently banned in LA.

They were put in relocation centers after Pearl Harbor like Native Americans had been put on Indian reservations. Americans largely forgot about the Japanese. The Supreme Court legitimated it by deeming the camps constitutional in Korematsu vs. US.

US and Britain received word that Nazi scientists were starting to create an atomic bomb. It was possible because of the scientific discovery of uranium. $2 million was put into the Manhattan Project. The bomb became known as the Trinity bomb.
