What is the Septuagint?

The Septuagint is the oldest Greek version of the Old Testament. It comes from Alexandria,Egypt and was translated between 300-200 BC. Traditionally it was said to have been translatedby 70 Jewish scholars. The word “Septuagint” is derived from “70” in Latin.

Why is the Apocrypha not part of the cannon?
