S.aureus and streptococcus GROUP B part of normal skin. However are a problem when they get into deeper tissues.

What happens to a wound after a month?

Colonisation of facultative anaerobes GN rod like. E.g E.coli.


After month - deeper structures affected as the wound deteriorates. ANAEROBES BECOME COMMON SO THE INFECTION IS POLYMICROBIAL.

What is Polymicrobial?

Multiple bacteria causing disease

What is monobactria?

Single organism causing disease

What can happen in the case of infection spreading to deeper tissue?

It can spread to underlying muscles causing OSTEOMYELITIS.
