The first one was composed of 3 rulers: Julius Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey. The group failed after awhile, and the second one contained Octavian (grandson of Caesar), Ledipus, and Mark Antony. They fell after immense jealousy and violence struck the empire.

Describe the Punic Wars.
Between 264 and 146 B.C., Rome and Carthage fought 3 wars. The first, for control of Sicily and the western Mediterranean, lasted 23 years. It ended with the defeat of Carthage. The second one began in 218 B.C. Hannibal started it. The third one, Rome laid siege to Carthage. In 146 B.C., the city was set afire and it's 50,000 inhabitants were sold into slavery. Became a Roman province.
Who was Hannibal?
A brilliant military strategist who wanted to avenge Carthage's earlier defeat. He took a risky move to surprise the Romans during the Punic Wars in which he invaded from the opposite direction that they were expecting. The north. His plan worked magnificently.
