Monarchy
When a king ruled in a government.
Aristocracy

Athens
The largest and most powerful city-state to emerge in greece.
Solon
Known as one of the 7 Wise Men of Greece. He began a series of political reformss that greatly increased citizen participation in Athenian government.
Cleisthenes
Introduced farther reforms because of his reforms, he generally regarded as the founder of democracy in Athens.
Council of Five Hundred
The council proposed laws and counseled the assembly. Counsil members were chosen at random from among the citizens.
Persian Wars
The greek fought Persian invaders who were attempting to conquer Greece. Greek fought by side as allies and defeated the Persian forces. The Athenians maintained democracy by holding debates on how to defend their city
