Relative Rate Strategies

Make a 3rd equation detailing the rate at which the distance between the bodies changes.

Weighted Average attack

Use mean differential for each variable.

Use addition or subtraction and set sum to 0 to find proportion of variables.

Standard deviation

Average deviation from the mean. Variance is the square of the standard deviation.

Evenly spaced set statistics

The mean and median are equal.

Counting Integers

How many integers between 6 and 10?

5 (6,7,8,9,10). GMAT requires including extremes. Always add 1 if extremes are to be counted (Last - First + 1)

For increments, (Last - First) / Increment + 1

Sum of Consecutive Integers

What is the sum of integers 20 to 100, inclusive?

Use rules for averages and counting integers

Average = (20+100)/2

N = (100-20+1)=81

Sum = 81 x 60 = 4860

Average of consecutive integers

Odd number of consecutive integers will have an integer mean (always divisible by n terms)

Even number of consecutive integers will have a NON-integer mean.
