Relative Rate Strategies |
Make a 3rd equation detailing the rate at which the distance between the bodies changes. |
|
Weighted Average attack |
Use mean differential for each variable.
Use addition or subtraction and set sum to 0 to find proportion of variables. |
|
Standard deviation |
Average deviation from the mean. Variance is the square of the standard deviation. |
|
Evenly spaced set statistics |
The mean and median are equal. |
|
Counting Integers
How many integers between 6 and 10? |
5 (6,7,8,9,10). GMAT requires including extremes. Always add 1 if extremes are to be counted (Last - First + 1)
For increments, (Last - First) / Increment + 1 |
|
Sum of Consecutive Integers
What is the sum of integers 20 to 100, inclusive? |
Use rules for averages and counting integers
Average = (20+100)/2
N = (100-20+1)=81
Sum = 81 x 60 = 4860 |
|
Average of consecutive integers |
Odd number of consecutive integers will have an integer mean (always divisible by n terms)
Even number of consecutive integers will have a NON-integer mean. |
